Happy Valley, OR — In a debate against State Representative Janelle Bynum, Democratic candidate for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer once again misled voters about her anti-abortion record in Congress. She claims she does not support a national abortion ban, but has voted time and time again to restrict access to reproductive healthcare in Congress.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s extreme anti-abortion record:

- “Encouraged” by the overturning of Roe

- Supported a national ban on abortion that would override Oregon’s own laws and criminalize doctors

- Endorsed in 2022 by extreme groups, like the National Right to Life – which opposed a bill to protect the right to contraception

Unlike Chavez-DeRemer, Janelle Bynum’s record and commitment to protecting reproductive freedom are unwavering. Even before Roe v. Wade was overturned, Bynum got to work to protect Oregon women’s reproductive rights
