Happy Valley, OR - With 5 days left in the campaign, Janelle Bynum’s campaign for Congress, is highlighting five ways Lori Chavez-DeRemer has failed Oregonians. the best choice for Oregonians.
5 reasons ways Lori Chavez-DeRemer has failed OR-05:
1. Jeopardized Social Security and Medicare: She opposed the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped seniors’ out-of-pocket prescription drug costs, and had voted 26 times to block consideration of protections for Social Security and Medicare.
2. Flip Flopped on Abortion: Chavez-DeRemer denies supporting the heartbeat bill but she’s made it clear she supported a national ban on abortion that would override Oregon’s own laws and criminalize doctors and voted to restrict servicemembers from receiving abortion care.
3. Aligned with MAGA Extremists: She struggled to give a clear answer as to whether she thinks the 2020 election was legitimate, questioned Oregon’s secure vote by mail process, defended the mob at the Capitol, and has endorsed 34-count convicted felon Donald Trump.
4. Opposed Investments to Combat Climate Change: During her last election, she opposed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which gave Oregon millions of dollars to fight the threat of climate change, including $39 million for wildfire prevention and $529 million for improving water infrastructure.
5. Skipped Labor-Related Hearings: Touts support from unions, and labor leaders but has routinely missed House hearings on labor-related issues.
Bynum’s campaign raised $3.4 million in Q3. The total is the highest quarterly fundraising total in state history - House or Senate. Two recent polls show Bynum leading Chavez-DeRemer by two points. The latest poll found Bynum leading with women voters and households with a union member. Recently, National Journal listed Oregon’s 5th Congressional District in the top 10 congressional races most likely to flip in 2024, jumping up 8 spots after State Rep. Janelle Bynum’s strong primary win “instantly making this seat a top offensive opportunity for the party.”
