Happy Valley, OR — Tonight, State Representative Janelle Bynum, Democratic candidate for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District wins her second debate against Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

“As voters heard tonight, Janelle Bynum is a proven leader and the only candidate on the stage who will go to Washington to deliver for Oregonians.” said Bynum for Congress Campaign Manager, Blakely Wall. “Voters heard directly from Bynum about her bipartisan track record of success, her vision for Oregonians, and why she is the best choice to flip Oregon’s fifth district from red to blue. Janelle is ready to defeat Lori Chavez-DeRemer again, this November.”

The final televised debate will take place on October 15, 2024 through the Central Oregon Daily.

Bynum’s campaign raised $3.4 million in Q3. The total is the highest quarterly fundraising total in state history - House or Senate. Two recent polls show Bynum leading Chavez-DeRemer by two points. The latest poll found Bynum leading with women voters and households with a union member. Recently, National Journal listed Oregon’s 5th Congressional District in the top 10 congressional races most likely to flip in 2024, jumping up 8 spots after State Rep. Janelle Bynum’s strong primary win “instantly making this seat a top offensive opportunity for the party.”
