Happy Valley, OR — Again, in a debate against State Representative Janelle Bynum, Democratic candidate for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer falsely claimed that Bynum is soft on crime.

In the legislature, Bynum worked on bipartisan legislation to recriminalize fentanyl and other dangerous drugs, she also put together a bipartisan police reform package - backed by the Oregon State Police, and other law enforcement groups.

Chavez-DeRemer voted to cut nearly all government funding– including critical funding for law enforcement and public safety - by 30 percent.

Bynum continues to be a proven leader on this issue, bringing together both parties, law enforcement, and members of the community to ensure our communities are safe and secure, all while ensuring accountability.
