Happy Valley, OR – Today, Metro Council President Lynn Peterson announced her decision to suspend her campaign for US Congress and endorse State Representative Janelle Bynum, marking a pivotal moment in Oregon's 5th Congressional District race.

"I believe State Rep. Janelle Bynum is the best candidate to defeat Chavez-DeRemer. She has my enthusiastic endorsement and full support and I urge all 5th District Democrats to entrust her with this work," said Peterson.

Bynum, a seasoned four-term state representative, welcomed Peterson's endorsement and emphasized her proven ability to defeat Republican opponents in legislative races. With endorsements from key figures like Oregon Governor Tina Kotek and U.S. Representative Andrea Salinas, Bynum is poised to galvanize support and build a broad coalition for the Democratic cause.

" Lynn Peterson is a tremendous public servant and asset to our community. I am honored by her endorsement and support, and look forward to working with her and Metro when I reach Congress. I’m excited to move forward with our broad coalition of support and to defeat Republican incumbent Lori Chavez-DeRemer a third time this November,” said Bynum.
