Happy Valley, OR – In an extraordinary show of support, State Representative Janelle Bynum, the Democratic nominee for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, raised over $100,000 within 24 hours of securing the nomination. This surge in contributions brings her total fundraising for the second quarter to over $575,000, signaling strong momentum for the general election.

"I am honored and grateful for the overwhelming support we have received," said Janelle Bynum. "There is so much at stake in this election. Oregonians cannot afford two more years of an extreme GOP enabler like Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who has proven herself to be part of the problem in Washington and absent in Oregon. In Congress, I will work tirelessly to address our housing crisis, create good-paying jobs, and bring federal resources home. While Chavez-DeRemer is working to strip away fundamental freedoms I will protect and expand abortion access for women across the country."

Bynum has successfully defeated the GOP incumbent Lori Chavez-DeRemer twice in previous races for the Oregon State House. During her four terms in the state legislature, Bynum has been a champion for Oregon families, working across the aisle to protect reproductive rights, enhance housing affordability, and create good-paying jobs. Bynum led the push to pass the Oregon CHIPS Act, positioning Oregon to gain thousands of jobs in the semiconductor industry.

This early fundraising success is a testament to the robust grassroots support that Bynum's campaign has cultivated. As the campaign progresses, Bynum looks forward to continuing to engage with voters and build on this momentum to secure victory in November.
