AFSCME Endorses Janelle Bynum for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District

Happy Valley, OR – Today, State Representative Janelle Bynum’s campaign for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, is proud to announce the endorsement of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and their local chapter Oregon AFSCME Council 75.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of AFSCME. Our state, county, and municipal employees are the backbone of Oregon, and work tirelessly to make our community better,” said Bynum. “In Congress, I will continue to be a champion for workers, fighting for fair wages, strong worker protections, paid leave programs, and affordable and accessible healthcare.”

Janelle Bynum has been a champion for workers in Oregon, and recently received the endorsement of SEIU. In the state legislature, Bynum was a consistent advocate for Oregon families, working to raise the minimum wage, expand paid family leave, address housing affordability and strengthen Oregon’s economy.

Bynum’s momentum continues to build, creating a widespread coalition of voters who believe in her vision of Oregon. In the second fiscal quarter, Bynum raised an impressive $1.5 million, outraising Lori Chavez-DeRemer by over half a million dollars.
