Bynum to Debate

Clackamas, OR – Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum announced that she will participate in a debate with Trump loyalist and extremist Patty Adair on October 10th hosted by KTVZ and the League of Women Voters of Deschutes. She released the following statement:

“I’m doing this debate because Oregonians deserve to see the difference for themselves,” said Rep. Bynum. “I’ll show up, stand on my record, and talk about the issues that Oregon families actually care about. I challenge my opponent to do the same. See you on October 10th.”

Additional Debates

The Bynum for Congress campaign will continue to review proposals for debates submitted by August 15, 2026. Accepted proposals will be notified by August 30, 2026. We encourage those that wish to host a debate to partner with other community organizations and media to ensure fair representation of our district.

To qualify for consideration, debate proposals must:

• Be hosted by or partnered with a local TV station west of the Cascades to ensure that every voter in CD5 has the opportunity to participate and engage.

• Propose a date for the debate to occur between September 15th and October 15th, 2026.

• Propose debate parameters, including but not limited to: opening/closing statements, Q+A format, rebuttal rules, and an audience question section if applicable, etc.

• Include confirmed moderators, and detail whether your debate will be a) livestreamed or pre-taped and b) include or exclude a live audience.

• For debate proposals not hosted by a local TV station: Include a media partner with confirmed interest, a plan for online streaming to ensure that every voter has the opportunity to participate, confirmed moderators, and a plan for distributing audience tickets and soliciting audience questions.
