Happy Valley, OR — State Representative Janelle Bynum, Democratic candidate for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District raised more than double her opponent Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer in the third fundraising quarter.
Earlier this month, the Bynum for Congress campaign announced their third-quarter fundraising haul of $3.4 million. This total is the highest amount ever raised in a single quarter by any campaign in Oregon's history—House or Senate. Chavez-DeRemer raised only $1.3 million in Q3, according to numbers released yesterday.
“This record-breaking fundraising haul further demonstrates the Bynum campaign’s momentum and widespread support heading into the final stretch of the general election,” said Blakely Wall, Campaign Manager for Bynum for Congress. “It’s abundantly clear that Oregonians are ready for a change in Washington, and Janelle Bynum is the leader who will deliver for this state. Janelle has the funds, momentum, and support to defeat Lori Chavez-DeRemer for a third time this November.”
With less than three weeks until election day, Bynum’s campaign continues to gain momentum. Two recent polls show Bynum leading Chavez-DeRemer by two points. The latest poll found Bynum leading with women voters and households with a union member. Recently, National Journal listed Oregon’s 5th Congressional District in the top 10 congressional races most likely to flip in 2024, jumping up 8 spots after State Rep. Janelle Bynum’s strong primary win “instantly making this seat a top offensive opportunity for the party.”
