Happy Valley, OR — In a final debate against State Representative Janelle Bynum, Democratic candidate for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer lied to voters about her anti-abortion record in Congress. She claimed she does not support a national abortion ban, but voted to restrict access to reproductive healthcare in Congress.
Chavez-DeRemer denies supporting the heartbeat bill but, in Congress, she supported a national ban on abortion that would override Oregon’s own laws and criminalize doctors. She also celebrated the fall of Roe.
Janelle Bynum’s record and commitment to protecting reproductive freedom are unwavering. Even before Roe v. Wade was overturned, Bynum got to work to protect Oregon women’s reproductive rights.
