With $1 million cash on hand, Janelle Bynum’s momentum continues to grow in the general election. Janelle has defeated Lori Chavez-DeRemer twice before, and is ready to do it a third time

Happy Valley, OR – In a powerful demonstration of support and momentum, State Representative Janelle Bynum, the Democratic nominee for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, announced today that her campaign has raised an impressive $1.5 million in the second fiscal quarter. With $1 million cash on hand, Bynum’s campaign is strategically positioned for the critical months ahead as she challenges incumbent Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

“Janelle Bynum’s momentum continues to grow, raising $1.5 million in Q2. After a 40 point victory in a competitive primary, Janelle is ready to fight for change in Oregon with an impressive $1 million cash on hand,” said Blakely Wall, Campaign Manager for Bynum for Congress. “This latest fundraising haul is more than just numbers, they represent the trust and hope that voters have placed in Janelle’s vision for Oregon’s future. Janelle will continue to share her message of standing up to extremists, like Lori Chavez-DeRemer, in Congress and creating actual solutions to the biggest issues facing Oregon.”

Lori Chavez-DeRemer has spent her less than two years in Congress engulfed by the extremism that has taken hold of the Republican Party. She votes with Republicans at every turn, enabling the dangerous impulses of her far-right caucus. She has attempted to restrict reproductive rights at every turn, and voted for cuts to nearly every major federal resource that Oregonians rely on. Lori is focused more on her popularity with republicans in DC than delivering for Oregonians – a record that Janelle Bynum is ready to challenge head-on.

About Janelle Bynum:

Janelle Bynum is an accomplished Oregon state legislator with a proven track record of delivering results. As a small business owner, engineer, and mother of four, she has been a steadfast advocate for Oregon families. During her four terms in the state legislature, Janelle has worked across the aisle to protect reproductive rights, improve housing affordability, and strengthen Oregon's economy. In the 2023 legislative session, she led the push to pass the Oregon CHIPS Act, which will create thousands of good-paying jobs in the semiconductor industry, giving Oregon a competitive edge.

Janelle Bynum is running to become the first Black person to ever represent Oregon on the federal level. Her candidacy has generated excitement among Democrats and her record of achievement, extensive coalition, and clear path to flipping this Biden +10 district offer a strong foundation for victory. Having already defeated Lori Chavez-DeRemer twice in previous races for the Oregon State House, Bynum is confident in her ability to do so again in 2024.

This latest fundraising milestone underscores the robust support and enthusiasm for Janelle Bynum’s campaign. As the election approaches, her campaign remains focused on engaging with voters and building on this momentum to secure a decisive victory in November.
